***DISCUSSION OF INSURANCE
Councilmember Krug said in an attempt to save the City $100,000 in insurance
premiums, they needed to address the issue of offering insurance to the City Council
and City Attorney. Mr. Krug made a motion to exclude the Council and City Attorney
from the City's health insurance and Councilmember Shetron seconded. The roll call
count was 3 for (Shetron, Krug and Matthews) and 4 against (Smart, Terrell, Carpenter
and Mynatt). The motion failed.
The discussion continued on health insurance. After looking at the bids from
several different agencies, Councilmember Smart moved to accept the bid from United
Health Care and use White River Insurance as the agent. Councilmember Mynatt
seconded and the roll call count was 7 for and 0 against.
***DISCUSSION OF BUDGET
The Council discussed different means of City Employees contributing to the
dependant coverage for health insurance and a 3% cost of living raise in 2007. After a
discussion, Councilmember Matthews moved to give all city employees with the
exception of the Mayor, City Attorney and City Clerk, a 3% cost of living raise for 2007
and the City to continue to pay 100% of the employee and dependant health insurance
premiums. Councilmember Carpenter seconded and the roll call count was 6 for and 1
(Terrell) against. The council decided that another budget meeting was needed before
adopting the 2007 budget.
NEW BUSINESS
None
COMMENTS FROM DEPARTMENT HEADS
