MINUTES OF COUNCIL <br /> JUNE 14, 2005 <br /> The Batesville City Council met in regular session on June 14, at 5:30 PM at the <br /> Municipal Building . Mayor Joe Biard presided over the meeting. Councilmember <br /> Pectol gave the invocation. Upon roll call the following councilmembers answered <br /> present: R.L. Carpenter, John Cooke, Fred Krug, Doug Matthews, Dana Mynatt, Jerry <br /> Pectol and Paula Terrell. Due to the recent death of Councilmember Jim Mitchum, <br /> Ward 4, Position 1 is now vacant. Also present were the City Clerk and the City <br /> Attorney. <br /> Councilmember Pectol moved to approve the minutes from the previous meeting <br /> and Councilmember Cooke seconded. All voted for. <br /> Councilmember Pectol moved to approve the prepared agenda. Councilmember <br /> Matthews seconded and all voted for. <br /> PRESENTATION BY GOOD WILL GROUP TO CHINA <br /> Rev. Gary Buckner and Lewis Hirschy presented Mayor Biard with a letter from <br /> the Mayor of Putian, China, Yi Zhan. The letter was in response and appreciation from <br /> a letter written by Mayor Biard to Mayor Yi Zhan and delivered by several area youth <br /> from First Baptist Church who were on a good will trip to China. <br /> STATEMENT FROM MAYOR BIARD <br /> Mayor Biard said he wanted to publicly express his sorrow in the passing of <br /> Councilmember Jim Mitchum. The Mayor was out of town during the funeral of Mr. <br /> Mitchum. Mayor Biard talked briefly about his friendship with Jim and how much he will <br /> be missed as a friend and a councilmember. <br /> REQUEST FOR WATER METERS OUTSIDE CITY <br />
