MINUTES OF COUNCIL <br /> MAY 11, 2004 <br /> The Batesville City Council met in regular session on May 11, at 5:30 PM at the <br /> Municipal Building. Mayor Joe Biard presided over the meeting. Councilmember <br /> Watkins gave the invocation. Upon roll call the following Councilmembers answered <br /> present: Jim Cargill, R.L. Carpenter, Robert Ford, Gerald Gaither, Jim Mitchum, Jerry <br /> Pectol, Paula Terrell and Jim Watkins. Also present were the City Clerk Denise Johnston <br /> and the City Attorney Scott Stalker. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the minutes from the last meeting. <br /> Councilmember Watkins seconded and all voted for. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the prepared agenda as amended. <br /> Councilmember Gaither seconded and all voted for. <br /> UPDATE FROM WELLNESS COALITION <br /> Dennis Moore, Linda Hidy and Judy Frazier along with several other members of <br /> the Independence County Hometown Wellness Coalition addressed the council. They <br /> expressed their concerns with recent statistics showing Independence County as 5th in the <br /> State of Arkansas for lung cancer. Surveys also show a high number of smokers, people <br /> with high blood, and high cholesterol. The group told the council of their vision and <br /> goals for the coalition and asked for support and involvement from the council. <br /> EXECUTIVE SESSION <br /> Councilmember Cargill moved to go into executive session. Councilmember <br /> Gaither seconded. All voted for. Upon returning from executive session, <br /> Councilmember Pectol moved to re-appoint Ms. Stephanie Isaacs to the Planning <br />
