MINUTES OF COUNCIL
MARCH 24, 2003
The Batesville City Council met in regular session on March 24, at 5:30 PM at the
Municipal Building. Mayor Joe Biard presided over the meeting. Councilmember Ford
gave the invocation. Upon roll call the following Councilmembers answered present:
Jim Cargill, R.L. Carpenter, Robert Ford, Gerald Gaither, Jim Mitchum, Jerry Pectol,
Paula Terrell and Jim Watkins. Also present were the City Clerk Denise Johnston. City
Attorney Scott Stalker was absent.
Councilmember Ford moved to approve the minutes from the last meeting.
Councilmember Cargill seconded and all voted for.
Councilmember Ford moved to approve the prepared agenda as amended.
Councilmember Watkins seconded and all voted for.
REQUEST FROM SHERIFF KEITH BOWERS
Sheriff Keith Bowers addressed the council with a request to replace a metro
vehicle that was recently totaled in an accident. He said that there was a program in
Missouri where they could buy a Missouri State Police vehicle with less than 50,000
miles on them. The Sheriff said the 1999 year models were $10,000, the 2000's were
$10,850 and the 2001's were $12,750. State Farm Insurance is giving the City $8,100 for
the totaled vehicle plus the cost to replace the equipment and strip a new vehicle.
Councilmember Cargill moved for the Sheriff to purchase a 1999 or 2000, which ever
would best suit the needs of the City, and Councilmember Pectol seconded. All voted
for.
SECOND READING FOR NUMBER ORDINANCE
