ORDINANCE NO. 97-10-2 ORDINANCE MODIFYING BATESVILLE ORDINANCE NO. 95-1-2 AND SETTING FORTH CERTAIN MODIFICATIONS OF THE WATER UTILITIES CROSS CONNECTION CONTROL PROGRAM WHEREAS there are modifications necessary to the Batesville Water Utilities Cross Connection Control Program established under Batesville Ordinance no. 95-1-2 mandated by law and formalization of policy and procedure for the regulation of Cross Connections by the City of Batesville; THEREFORE, be ordained by the City Council of the City of Batesville, Arkansas: Section 1 Batesville Ordinance no. 95-1-2 is modified in the following particulars: 1.3 DEFINITIONS shall be modified as follows: The following terms shall have the stated meanings: A. Approving Authority means the Manager of the BWU or his designated agent(s). B. Auxiliary Water Supply means any water supply, on or available to the property other than the Water System. • C. AVBA means Atmospheric Vacuum Breaker Assembly. D. AWWA means American Water Works Association. E. Backflow means flow of water or other liquids, mixtures or substances, under positive or reduced pressure into the distribution pipes of a potable water supply from any source other than its intended source. F. Backflow Prevention Assembly ( or "Assemblies':) means a mechanical backflow preventer assembly constructed with shut-off valves, and provided as a complete assembly by a single manufacturer, used to prevent the backflow of contaminants or pollutants into the Water System. The assembly must have the approval of the Foundation for Cross Connection Control and Hydraulic Research at the University of Southern California, the State of Arkansas Department of Health, and the City. G. Backflow Prevention Device means a mechanical device used to prevent the backflow of water. H. BWU means the Batesville Water Utilities. O1
