ORDINANCE NO. 97-10-2 <br /> ORDINANCE MODIFYING BATESVILLE ORDINANCE NO. 95-1-2 AND SETTING <br /> FORTH CERTAIN MODIFICATIONS OF THE WATER UTILITIES CROSS CONNECTION <br /> CONTROL PROGRAM <br /> WHEREAS there are modifications necessary to the Batesville Water Utilities Cross Connection <br /> Control Program established under Batesville Ordinance no. 95-1-2 mandated by law and <br /> formalization of policy and procedure for the regulation of Cross Connections by the City of <br /> Batesville; <br /> THEREFORE, be ordained by the City Council of the City of Batesville, Arkansas: <br /> Section 1 Batesville Ordinance no. 95-1-2 is modified in the following particulars: <br /> 1.3 DEFINITIONS shall be modified as follows: <br /> The following terms shall have the stated meanings: <br /> A. Approving Authority means the Manager of the BWU or his designated <br /> agent(s). <br /> B. Auxiliary Water Supply means any water supply, on or available to the property <br /> other than the Water System. <br /> • C. AVBA means Atmospheric Vacuum Breaker Assembly. <br /> D. AWWA means American Water Works Association. <br /> E. Backflow means flow of water or other liquids, mixtures or substances, under <br /> positive or reduced pressure into the distribution pipes of a potable water supply <br /> from any source other than its intended source. <br /> F. Backflow Prevention Assembly ( or "Assemblies':) means a mechanical <br /> backflow preventer assembly constructed with shut-off valves, and provided as a <br /> complete assembly by a single manufacturer, used to prevent the backflow of <br /> contaminants or pollutants into the Water System. The assembly must have the <br /> approval of the Foundation for Cross Connection Control and Hydraulic Research <br /> at the University of Southern California, the State of Arkansas Department of <br /> Health, and the City. <br /> G. Backflow Prevention Device means a mechanical device used to prevent the <br /> backflow of water. <br /> H. BWU means the Batesville Water Utilities. <br /> O1 <br />
