RESOLUTION NO. <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR PERMIT <br /> FOR OPERATION OF HYDROELECTRIC UNIT <br /> WHEREAS, White River Heritage Center, Inc. , a corporation <br /> organized under the Non-profit Corporation Act of Arkansas (Act 176 <br /> of 1963 as amended) has undertaken to establish for the use and benefit <br /> of the general public a center for the preservation, study and display <br /> of national , regional and local history and culture and display of <br /> the arts, and has undertaken to obtain the funds with which to construct <br /> this project; and, <br /> WHEREAS, it is necessary to the financing of the afore- <br /> mentioned project to construct and operate a hydroelectric unit at <br /> Lock and Dam No. 1 on the White River, and in order to operate said <br /> hydroelectric unit it is necessary to obtain authority from the Federal <br /> Energy Regulatory Commission; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Batesville should be <br /> authorized to apply to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for <br /> a permit for operation of the aforesaid hydroelectric unit; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Batesville, <br /> Arkansas: <br /> That Mayor Peyton Golden should be and is hereby authorized <br /> on behalf of the City of Batesville, Arkansas to make application <br /> to and secure from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Office <br /> of Electric Power Regulation, a preliminary permit,which during the <br /> term of the permit gives the City the right of priority of application <br /> for license while the city undertakes necessary studies and examinations <br /> to determine the engineering and economic feasibility for the construction <br /> of the hydroelectric unit, the market for the power and all information <br /> necessary for inclusion in an application for license. <br /> PASSED: 6' <br /> Date <br /> PEYT N G DEN, MAYOR- <br /> ATTEST: <br /> x <br /> LARRY WILVIAMS, CITY CLERK <br />
