(WRESOLUTION ENACTED <br /> By the City Council of Batesville, Arkansas <br /> sponsored by <br /> Aldermen Ed Williams and Ronald Sandstead <br /> WHEREAS, on March 30, 1981, an attempt was made upon the life of <br /> the President of the United States, and <br /> WHEREAS, the President along with his Press Secretary, James L. <br /> Brady, were seriously injured, and <br /> WHEREAS, Secret Service Agent Timothy McCarthy demonstrated <br /> the courage instilled in one assigned to protect our President and was <br /> wounded in the line of duty, and <br /> WHEREAS, Washington Metropolitan Policeman, Thomas Delahunty <br /> risked his own life to save our President and suffered a bullet wound <br /> in the course of so doing, and, <br /> WHEREAS, all four of the courageous and gallant men under the <br /> skillful guidance of outstanding medical experts have made truly re- <br /> markable recoveries. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br /> BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS, that we express our appreciation to Misiers <br /> Brady, McCarthy and Delahunty for their efforts to save our President <br /> and further express our warmest appreciation to our courageous President <br /> Ronald Reagan for his determination to recover so quickly in order to provide <br /> for leadership our nation needs in these troubled times. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk send copies of this <br /> Resolution to Senators Dale Bumpers and David Pryor with the request <br /> that it be published in the Congressional Record. <br /> It is so enacted. <br /> CI T Y�50 UN 4CILBATES VILLE, ARKANSAS <br /> BY: <br /> ATTEST: ay <br />
