RESOLUTION # 7 74 <br /> A RESOLUTION LEVYING FEES FOR TRASH AND GARBAGE PICKUP SERVICE AND <br /> OTHER PURPOSES : <br /> WHEREAS , the Batesville City Council is authorized and directed by <br /> Ordinance #922 as codified in the Batesville Municipal Code as <br /> Chapter S , Section 5 . 12 . 01 , et sea, to establish and levy a fee <br /> for garbage and trash pickup service ; and, <br /> WHEREAS , the fees currently charged have not been adjusted in re- <br /> cent years to take into account the increased costs of fuel , labor <br /> equipment and inflation in general ; and, <br /> WHEREAS , the services provided are essential to the health and <br /> sanitation of the city and its people and a readjustment of fees <br /> is found to be necessary for the continued efficient operation of <br /> said system and said readjustment is beneficial to the citizens as <br /> a whole. <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BATESVILLE, ARK- <br /> ANSAS AS FOLLOWS : <br /> (1) Pursuant to Ordinance #922 as codified as Batesville Municipal <br /> Code Chapter S, Section 5 . 12 . 01 et se the following rates for <br /> residential , commercial and industrial garbage and trash pick-up <br /> are hereby set out as follows and shall take effect January 1 , <br /> 1982 . <br /> (2) The rate for residential garbage and trash pickup is hereby <br /> set at $5. 00 per month per house or living unit located within the <br /> City of Batesville , Arkansas ; except where all the occupants of a <br /> house or living unit are 6S years or older, on a fixed income and <br /> said persons execute a document under oath stating their age and <br /> the age of each person residing within said house or living unit <br /> and that the $5. 00 fee will impose an economic hardship on that <br /> person or household or members of that living unit, then the fee <br /> per month shall be $3 . 50 per month. Said document shall be pre- <br /> pared and kept on file with the City Clerk. <br /> (3) The rate for Commercial and Industrial users shall be based <br /> upon frequency of pickup and time consumed during pickup . A <br /> monthly fee shall be charged based upon the following formula : <br /> $2 . 00 per average number of weekly pickups plus $2 . 00 per minute <br /> of average loading time required each week. In no instance shall <br /> the monthly minimum be less than $5. 00 .
