.N490 <br /> RESOLUTION <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Batesville, <br /> Arkansas , has been petitioned by various civic groups to I <br /> authorize a study of the feasibility of an urban renewal <br /> project for the City of Batesville; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council is informed that an urban <br /> renewal planning study may be obtained without the expenditure <br /> of public funds , and without any commitment on the part of <br /> the City to any :._'irban renewal project, in part or whole, and <br /> WHEREAS, it is the opinion of me City Council that <br /> an urban renewal planning survey could lead to beneficial <br /> results for the City of Batesville, and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council would retain control over <br /> any urban renewal projects which may be initiated, and <br /> WHEREAS, it is the consensus of tree City Council that <br /> the urban renewal planning survey should consider the <br /> feasibility of five specific projects : viz ; <br /> 1. The widenin; of Water and other streets in the <br /> downtown area of Batesville, Arkansas ; . <br /> 2. Creation or adequate parkin,; Facilities in <br /> the business district or Batesville, <br /> 3. Construction of an overpass spanning Polk Bayou <br /> and the tracks or the Missouri Pacific Railroad, <br /> 4. Development of additional city parks and playgrounds , <br /> and, <br /> 5. Clearing of slum and blighted areas , both commercial <br /> and residential, throughout the urban renewal area. <br /> THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of tree <br /> City of Batesville, Arkansas , that Hon. Richard W. Sturch, <br /> Mayor , is hereby authorized to invite professional planning <br /> I <br /> consultants to visit Batesville for interviews and discussions <br /> with the Mayor and City Council with a view to the employment <br /> �r of one planninj consultant for the purpose of conducting an <br /> urban renewal plannin; survey which would include a study of <br /> the feasability and desirability o2f above-mentioned five <br /> specific projects ; provided that any contract or agreement <br />
