1 <br /> r <br /> (W <br /> R E S O L U T I O N <br /> " A RESOLUTION PROVIDING ASSURANCE TO THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATION <br /> THAT BATESVILLE IS AWARE OF ITS RESPONSIBILITY TO THE UNEMPLOYED AND UNDER- <br /> EMPLOYED IN REDEVELOPMENT AREAS, AND THAT THE CENTER HAS PLANS TO TAKE <br /> APPROPRIATE ACTION TO BEST SERVE THE NEEDS OF THESE AREAS BY A CONTINUING <br /> EFFORT TO ATTAIN INCREASED ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. <br /> WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States, did enact legislation <br /> to establish multi-county planning districts to encourage economic develop- <br /> ment, through increased federal aid to assist in securing programs that <br /> are significant to economic growth known as the Public Works and Economic <br /> s <br /> Development Act of 1965, and <br /> WHEREAS, the Act provides for cities within these districts to be <br /> designated as Growth Centers, and <br /> WHEREAS, Batesville has been designated as the Growth Center of the <br /> North Central Arkansas Economic Development District, Inc. , and <br /> WHEREAS, this designation allows the Center to undertake economic <br /> development projects of a broader spectrum, and <br /> WHEREAS, such economic development projects undertaken by the Center <br /> will be designed to provide service to redevelopment areas with special <br /> consideration being given to those individuals who are unemployed or <br /> underemployed, and <br /> . WHEREAS, the Center will consider the needs of these low income <br /> persons in all development plans. <br />
