MINUTES OF COUNCIL <br /> JANUARY 27, 1998 <br /> The Batesville City Council met in regular session on January 27, at 5:30 P.M. at the <br /> Municipal Building. Mayor Joe Biard presided over the meeting. Councilmember Gaither gave <br /> the invocation. Upon roll call, all the council answered present. Also present were the City <br /> Clerk and the City Attorney. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the minutes from the last meeting and <br /> Councilmember Gaither seconded. All voted for. <br /> Councilmember Cargill moved to approve the prepared agenda and Councilmember <br /> Insell seconded. All vote for. <br /> CABLE TV FRANCHISE ORDINANCE — FINAL READING <br /> Dwayne Millikin, manager of TCA Cable in Batesville, was present for the third and final <br /> reading of the Cable TV Franchise Ordinance. Mayor Biard read the ordinance for the final <br /> reading and opened the meeting for discussion. After a brief discussion, Councilmember Cargill <br /> moved to amend the ordinance from a 15 year franchise to a 10 year franchise. Councilmember <br /> Carpenter seconded and the roll call count was 2 for (Cargill and Carpenter) and 6 against. The <br /> motion failed. Councilmember Gaither moved to adopt the ordinance as written and <br /> Councilmember Pectol seconded. The roll call count was 6 for and 2 against (Cargill and <br /> Carpenter). The ordinance was adopted and given #98-1-3. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The Councilmembers were given a copy of the financial statement for the month ending <br /> 12/31/97. <br /> There bring no further business, Councilmember Mithcum moved that the meeting be <br /> adjourned.
