MINUTES OF COUNCIL <br /> FEBRUARY 23, 1999 <br /> The Batesville City Council met for its regular meeting on February 23, at <br /> 5:30 P.M. at the Municipal Building. Mayor Joe Biard presided over the meeting. <br /> Councilmember Gaither gave the invocation. Upon roll call, all the council <br /> answered present. Also present were the City Clerk and the City Attorney. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the minutes from the last meeting. <br /> Councilmember Insell seconded and all voted for. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the prepared agenda and <br /> Councilmember Cargill seconded. All voted for. <br /> DISCUSSION WITH SHERIFF ON VANDALISM <br /> Independence County Sheriff Ron Webb, Chief Deputy Brian Everett and <br /> Captain Gene O'Brien addressed the council regarding vandalism at Riverside <br /> Park. The Sheriff said he had hoped to have an arrest by today for the recent <br /> vandalism at the Park. There were eye witnesses to the vandalism and he said <br /> an arrest should be made soon. The Sheriff said they were going to purchase a <br /> surveillance camera to use at various locations in the City. Councilmember Ford <br /> recommended putting big boulders in the grassy area to help prevent any further <br /> vandalism. <br /> MAYOR'S ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> The bids are in for the two roadside radar-monitoring units in the amount <br /> of$19,889.99. The grant, which we have applied for, is in the amount of <br /> $16,369.00 which leaves the City with a share of$3,520.99. The Mayor said he <br /> has received a letter stating that the grant has been awarded but we have not yet <br />
