MINUTES OF COUNCIL <br /> MARCH 9, 1999 <br /> The Batesville City Council met in regular session on March 9, at 5:30 <br /> P.M. at the Municipal Building. Mayor Joe Biard presided over the meeting. <br /> Councilmember Gaither gave the invocation. Upon roll call, all the council <br /> answered present. Also present were the City Clerk and the City Attorney. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the minutes from the last meeting <br /> and Councilmember Cargill seconded. All voted for. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the prepared agenda. <br /> Councilmember Insell seconded and all voted for. <br /> STREET CLOSING ON STATE STREET REQUESTED BY ATTORNEY ERIC <br /> HANCE ON BEHALF OF BARNEY HIGHTOWER. <br /> Attorney Eric Hance addressed the council with a request to hold a public <br /> hearing to close a portion of State Street on behalf of Mr. Barney Hightower. Mr. <br /> Hance gave the council a map of the proposed closing. The property is located <br /> behind the old Marvin Hotel. The street is platted but has never been opened. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to hold the public hearing at the next scheduled <br /> council meeting on March 23. Councilmember Insell seconded and all voted for. <br /> CONSIDER A RESOLUTION TO INCREASE GARBAGE FEES <br /> The Mayor read a resolution that would increase garbage fees by $1.50 <br /> for residential and commercial garbage pickup. Mayor Biard said Independence <br /> County informed him that the tipping fee has increased by $3.00 per ton. He said <br /> he felt that the increase is necessary to cover the tipping fee increase. <br />
