MINUTES OF COUNCIL <br /> MARCH 13, 2001 <br /> The Batesville City Council met on March 13, at 5:30 PM at the Municipal Building. <br /> Mayor Joe Biard presided over the meeting. Councilmember Watkins gave the invocation. <br /> Upon roll call the following Councilmember answered present; Dana Bone, Jim Cargill, Robert <br /> Ford, Gerald Gaither, Jim Mitchum, Jerry Pectol and Jim Watkins. Councilmember R.L. <br /> Carpenter was absent. Also present were the City Clerk Denise Johnston and City Attorney <br /> Scott Stalker. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the minutes from the previous meeting. <br /> Councilmember Cargill seconded and all voted for. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the prepared agenda as amended and <br /> Councilmember Cargill seconded. All voted for. <br /> MAYOR'S ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> Mayor Biard said City Yard needs a place to store traffic signals supplies. Don's Diesel <br /> has an 8'/2 X 8'/2 dry box truck bed for$1,500. They have offered the city $500 for a 6 X 18 <br /> trailer that was used to haul trash. The trailer has not been used since 1984. The Mayor said <br /> he will trade in the trailer and give Don's Diesel $1,000 for the dry box. He said he will pay for <br /> the purchase out of the Mayor's discretionary fund. <br /> PRESENTATION BY SHERIFF DAN JOHNSON <br /> Sheriff Johnson gave the council a copy of the Independence County Sheriff's <br /> Department Activity and Status Report for February 2001. Councilmember Bone discussed her <br /> concerns with littering at Riverside Park. Sheriff Johnson said he would bring the concerns to <br /> his Leadership Committee. <br /> CONSIDERATION OF ORDINANCE TO REFINANCE BOND ISSUE FOR UTILITIES <br /> Mr. Edmond G. Hurst, with Crews & Associates, Inc. and Mr. Shep Russell with Friday, <br /> Eldridge and Clark Law Firm addressed the council regarding the ordinance to refinance bond <br />
