MINUTES OF COUNCIL <br /> JULY 24, 2001 <br /> The Batesville City Council met in regular session on July 24, at 5:30 PM at the <br /> Municipal Building. Mayor Joe Biard presided over the meeting. Councilmember Ford <br /> gave the invocation. Upon roll call the following Councilmembers answered present: <br /> Jim Cargill, R.L. Carpenter, Robert Ford, Jim Mitchum, Jerry Pectol and Jim Watkins. <br /> Councilmembers Dana Bone and Gerald Gaither were absent. Also present were the City <br /> Clerk Denise Johnston and the City Attorney Scott Stalker. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the minutes from the last meeting. <br /> Councilmember Pectol seconded and all voted for. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the prepared agenda. Councilmember <br /> Cargill seconded and all voted for. <br /> REQUEST BY SHERIFF DAN JOHNSON <br /> Independence County Sheriff Dan Johnson and Chief Deputy John Hilburn <br /> addressed the council to request additional funds for the metro division of the Sheriff's <br /> Department. Sheriff Johnson said because of high gasoline prices and unexpected repairs <br /> to vehicles the metro budget is over budget mainly in the vehicle expenses category. <br /> The Sheriff asked the council to appropriate an additional $26,000.00 to line item 550- <br /> 51-668, vehicles expenses, to finish out the remainder of the year. After a discussion, <br /> Councilmember Watkins moved to appropriate the additional funds as requested and <br /> Councilmember Cargill seconded. All voted for. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The council was given a copy of the financial statement for the month ending <br /> June 30, 2001. <br />
