MINUTES OF COUNCIL <br /> MARCH 26, 2002 <br /> The Batesville City Council met in regular session on March 26, at 5:30 PM at the Municipal <br /> Building. Mayor Joe Biard presided over the meeting. Councilmember Ford gave the invocation. Upon roll <br /> call the following Councilmembers answered present: Jim Cargill, R.L. Carpenter, Robert Ford, Gerald <br /> Gaither, Jim Mitchum, Jerry Pectol and Jim Watkins. Also present were the City Clerk Denise Johnston and <br /> the City Attorney Scott Stalker. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the minutes from the last meeting. Councilmember Cargill <br /> seconded and all voted for. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the prepared agenda as amended. Councilmember Watkins <br /> seconded and all voted for. <br /> NOMINATIONS FOR CITY COUNCIL, WARD #1, POSITION #1 <br /> Mayor Biard opened the floor for discussion regarding the appointment of a Councilmember to <br /> represent Ward#l, Position#l. The Mayor said there were a few options that the council could take. As of <br /> this afternoon, two people have filed for the position as democrats. The Mayor said if the council so desired, <br /> they could postpone the appointment until after the May primary and let the people decide. There will be 3 <br /> council meetings between now and the May primary. Secondly, they could go ahead and do the nominations <br /> tonight or thirdly they could table the nominations until the next meeting to have time to consider their <br /> options. After a discussion, Councilmember Watkins moved to wait until after the May primaries to make an <br /> appointment to the council position. Councilmember Cargill seconded and all voted for. <br /> UPDATE ON BATESVILLE RIVERWALK <br /> Mr. Herman Lee with Lee and Associates Architects gave the council a copy of some drawings for <br /> the Batesville Riverwalk Mr. Lee said the work should begin soon and the contractors have been given 6 <br /> months to complete the project. <br />
