MINUTES OF COUNCIL <br /> AUGUST 13, 2002 <br /> The Batesville City Council met in regular session on August 13, at 5:30 PM at the Municipal <br /> Building. Mayor Joe Biard presided over the meeting. Councilmember Watkins gave the invocation. <br /> Upon roll call the following Councilmembers answered present: Jim Cargill, R.L. Carpenter, Robert <br /> Ford, Gerald Gaither, Jim Mitchum, Jerry Pectol, Paula Terrell and Jim Watkins. Also present were the <br /> City Clerk Denise Johnston and the City Attorney Scott Stalker. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the minutes from the last meeting. Councilmember <br /> Pectol seconded and all voted for. <br /> Councilmember Ford moved to approve the prepared agenda as amended. Councilmember <br /> Watkins seconded and all voted for. <br /> PRESENTATION TO FIRE CHIEF BOB DAVIS <br /> Mayor Biard presented a plaque to retiring Fire Chief Bob Davis. Chief Davis will be retiring on <br /> August 21, 2002 at which time he will have worked with the Fire Department for over 28 years. <br /> SHERIFF'S MONTHLY REPORT <br /> Sheriff Dan Johnson gave the council a monthly activity and status report for July 2002. <br /> PARKS GRANT RESOLUTION <br /> Mayor Biard read a resolution authorizing the Mayor to submit an application to the Department <br /> of Parks and Tourism for a 50150 matching grant. The Mayor said the application will be to construct an <br /> amphitheater. Councilmember Cargill moved to adopt the resolution and Councilmember Gaither <br /> seconded. All voted for and the resolution was given 42002-8-1-R. <br /> CODE ENFORCEMENT ISSUES <br /> Mayor Biard opened the public hearing to consider condemnation of the structure located at 1830 <br /> Pickens Street. Mr. Dickey Sisk addressed the council and said he was in the process of tearing down the <br /> structure but need more than the 30 days to have it completed. The council explained to Mr. Sisk that at <br /> the end of the 30 days the council has the discretion to extend the time for completion. The Mayor closed <br />
