I <br />ORDINANCE NO. <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ELECTRICAL CODE, CHAPTER 11.20 OF THE BATESVILLE <br />MUNICIPAL CODE, OF THE CITY OF BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY <br />AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES: <br />Be it hereby ordained and adopted by the City Council of the City of <br />Batesville, Arkansas: <br />SECTION 1: That Section 11.20.02 of the Batesville Municipal Code of <br />the City of Batesville, Arkansas is hereby amended to read as follows: <br />The code enforcement officer responsible for administering this <br />code shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to approval of the <br />City Council. Said code enforcement officer shall be called the <br />electrical inspector and shall have had at least three (3) years <br />of practical experience as a master electrician and shall be of <br />good moral character. He shall be versed in approved methods of <br />electrical construction for safety of life and property and shall <br />be fully acquainted with the National Electric Code. He shall <br />receive such compensation as the City Council may hereafter provide. <br />SECTION 2: That Section 11.20.07 of the Batesville Municipal Code of <br />the City of Batesville, Arkansas is hereby amended to read as follows: <br />Licensing of electricians: Any person, firm or corporation desiring <br />to engage in the business of electrical construction or of the in- <br />stallation of wiring and apparatus for electric light, appliances, <br />heating or power in the City of Batesville, Arkansas shall before <br />doing so, obtain a license therefor. The fee for a person, firm or <br />corporation performing work and qualified as a master electrician <br />shall be twenty five dollars ($25.00) per year. The fee for a <br />person, firm or corporation performing work and qualified as a <br />journeyman electrician shall be fifteen dollars ($15.00) per year. <br />Said fees shall be paid into the City Treasury before such license <br />shall become effective. <br />SECTION 3: That Section 11.20.09 of the Batesville Municipal Code of <br />the City of Batesville, Arkansas is hereby amended to read as follows: <br />Qualifications: No license shall be issued until the party <br />applying for same has given satisfactory evidence to the code <br />enforcement officer, by examination or other suitable means of <br />his or their ability to do said electrical work in a safe and <br />satisfactory manner. A master electrician shall possess the <br />necessary qualifications, training and technical knowledge to <br />plan, lay out, and supervise the installation, maintenance, and <br />extension of electrical conductors and equipment. A journeyman <br />electricial shall possess the necessary qualifications, training, <br />technical knowledge to install, maintain and extend electrical con- <br />ductors and equipment; further, he shall be capable of doing such <br />work in accordance with plans and specifications furnished in ac- <br />cordance with standard rules and regulations governing such work. <br />No permit for installation or alteration of any wiring, heating de- <br />vices, motors, appliances and apparatus shall be issued until the <br />license and bond herein required have been obtained. <br />SECTION 4: All ordinances or parts of ordinances which conflict with <br />the provisions of this ordinances are hereby expressly repealed. <br />�..
