ORDINANCE # I <br />AN ORDINANCE A1,ENDING SECTIONS 3.04.01, 3.04.02 and 3.04.03 OF THE BATESVI= <br />MUNICIPAL CODE PERTAINING TO CITY PURCHASES AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES <br />Section 1: Section 3.04.01 of the Batesville Municipal Code is hereby <br />amended to read as follows: <br />The Mayor or his duly authorized representative shall <br />have exclusive power and responsibility to make purchases <br />of all supplies, apparatus, equipment, materials and <br />other things requisite for public purposes in and for <br />the City of Batesville, and to make all necessary <br />contracts for work or labor to be done, or material <br />or other things to be furnished for the benefit of the <br />City or in carrying out any work or undertaking of a <br />public nature therein where the total expenditures <br />therefor is One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) or less. <br />Section 2: Section 3.04.02 of the Batesville Municipal Code is hereby <br />amended to read as follows: <br />All purchases of supplies, apparatus, equipment, materials <br />and other things requisite for public purposes, contracts <br />for work or labor to be done, material and other necessary <br />things to be furnished to the City where the expenditure <br />is greater than One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) but not <br />exceeding Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00) shall be made or <br />contracted for by the Mayor or his duly authorized <br />representative only after the securing of quotation bids <br />therefor. Provided, however, purchases of less than Two <br />Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00) at state bid prices shall be <br />exempt from the provisions of this ordinance. <br />Section 3: Section 3.04.03 of the Batesville Municipal Code is hereby <br />amended to read as follows: <br />Where the amount of expenditure for any purpose or contract <br />exceeds the sum of Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00) the Mayor <br />or his duly authorized representative shall invite competitive <br />bidding thereon by legal advertisement in any local newspaper. <br />Bids received pursuant to said advertisement shall be opened <br />and read on the date set for receiving said bids in the <br />presence of the Mayor or his duly authorized representative <br />together with the City Council. The City Council shall have <br />exclusive power, by majority vote, to award the bid to the <br />lowest responsible bidder, provided, however, the Council, <br />by majority vote, may reject any and all bids received. <br />Section 4: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith <br />are hereby repealed. <br />ADOPTED this <<! day of <br />ATTEST: <br />LARRY WILT -IAMS, CITY CLERK <br />,✓� %� 1981, <br />APP OVED : <br />-S� LL, MAYOR <br />
