,%r <br />ORDINANCE # ` 7 I <br />AN ORDINANCE ABOLISHING THE OFFICE OF CHIEF OF POLICE AND POSITION OF ASSISTAP,ri <br />CHIEF OF POLICE, INVESTIGATOR, ALL SERGEANT POSITIONS, SENIOR PATROLME11 AND <br />ALL OTHER PATROL,1EN POSITIONS; ABOLISHING THE PAY SCHEDULE FOR EACH OF THE <br />ABOVE POSITIONS; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AivD FOR OTHER PURPOSES: <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS: <br />Section l: The office of Chief of Police of the Batesville Police Department <br />is hereby abolished. <br />Section 2: The following positions and offices of the Batesville Police <br />Department are hereby abolished: <br />(a) Assistant Chief of Police, <br />(b) Investigator, <br />(c) All Sergeant positions, <br />(d) Senior patrolmen <br />(e) All other patrolmen positions. <br />Section 3: The pay schedules for each of the positions described in Sections <br />1 and 2 of this ordinance are hereby abolished. <br />Section 4: Any ordinance, parts of ordinances or any council action in <br />conflict with the provisions herein are hereby repealed. <br />Section 5: The City Council of the City of Batesville, Arkansas has determined <br />that the offices andpositions above described and the salaries appropriated <br />to those positions are no longer needed due to the fact that on this date the <br />City Council has adopted an Interlocal Agreement by Ordinance # <br />whereby Independence County and the City of Batesville will pool their <br />resources and establish a Metropolitan Branch of the Independence County <br />Sheriff's Office; that due to said agreement the above described positions and; <br />salaries are economically unjustified; that said agreement will provide greater <br />law enforcement protection for the citizens of the city at a reduced cost and <br />is therefore in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Batesville. <br />Therefore, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall <br />be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage in order <br />to preserve the public peace, health and safety. <br />DATED THIS S- day of 1981. <br />APPROVED: <br />JIM 3HIRRELL, MAYOR <br />ATTEST: <br />L.cJ <br />LARRY WILL AT1S, CITY CLERK <br />
