August 6, 1970 Batesville City Council Batesville Arkansas Re: Rezoning Application of Independence Center, Inc. Gentlemen: Please be advised that Independence Center, Inc., the owner of the property hereinafter described, has petitioned the Batesville City Planning Commission for changing zoning classification of such property from "R-2" residential to "C -1-A" commercial. The property sought to be rezoned is located on Porter Street in Batesville, Arkansas, and is particularly described as follows: A part of the Northwest Quarter of the Northeast Quarter of Section 16, Township 13 North, Range 6 West, particularly described thus: Beginning at the intersection of St. Louis and Porter Streets, on the east side of St. Louis Street and the north side of Porter Street, at a rock for a corner, thence east along the north line of Porter Street 210 feet to the point of beginning, thence north 150 feet; thence east 70 feet; thence south 150 feet to the north line of Porter Street; thence west 70 feet along the north line of Porter Street to the point of beginning. This petition was set for public hearing be- fore the City Planning Commission on August 4, 1970, and notice of such public hearing was duly published as required by law. At the conclusion of the public hearing, a duly constituted quorum of the Batesville City Planning Commission voted to recommend to the City Council that the change in zoning classification of the above des- cribed property requested by petitioner would be in the best interest of the city and should be granted.
