• CITY OF BATESVILLE ARKANSAS ORDINANCE NO. 2011--Oct <br /> AN ORDINANCE TO ALLOW LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS <br /> TO DISCHARGE FIREARMS DURING TRAINING AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. <br /> WHEREAS,the Batesville Municipal Code allows duly elected or appointed law <br /> enforcement officers or people employed as law enforcement officers to discharge a firearm in <br /> the City of Batesville in the line of duty; and <br /> WHEREAS,the City of Batesville recognizes that it is necessary for duly elected or <br /> appointed law enforcement officers or people employed as law enforcement officers to discharge <br /> firearms for training purposes periodically; and <br /> WHEREAS, local law enforcement officers have been forced to travel in order to partake <br /> in training involving firearm discharge; and <br /> WHEREAS, should the opportunity present itself for local law enforcement to attain a <br /> • safe, convenient and suitable facility at which to undertake firearm training within the City of <br /> Batesville,the City wishes to enable and encourage that activity; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the public that law enforcement officers be <br /> properly and sufficiently trained and proficient in firearm use and safety. <br /> NOW,THEREFORE be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Batesville, <br /> Arkansas: <br /> Section 1. It shall not be unlawful for any duly elected or appointed law enforcement <br /> officer or person employed as a law enforcement officer to fire or discharge a firearm <br /> within the City of Batesville during training exercises approved by the Independence County <br /> Sheriff's Office. <br /> PASSED AND APPROVED on this day of , 2011. <br />
