a ORDINANCE NO. AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING n1E INTRODUCTION BY THE BATESVILLE WATER COMPANY, INC., OF FLUORIDE INTO THE DRINKING WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM WHICH SERVICES THE CITY OF BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS; PROVIDING FOR THE REGULATION OF SUCH FLUORIDATION; AND FOR 0 nIER PURPOSES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS: Section 1. The Batesville Water Company, Inc., be and it is hereby authorized and directed to provide the means and to proceed with the introduction of fluoride (fluoride ion) into the drinking water supply system of the City of Batesville, Arkansas, in such quantities as are required to maintain throughout the pipe distribution system a concentration of about one and tiro -tenths (1.2 ) part per million, or as designated by the Arkansas State Board of Health; provided, plans and specifications for necessary equipment, installation, application, control and operations involved in such introd- uction be first submitted and approved by the State Board of Health. Such original introduction and all subsequent fluoridation shall be in all things in accord with and subject to all rules, requirements and regulations of said State Board of Health. Section 2, This Ordinance shall not become effective until duly published nor until voted upon by the qualified electors of the City of Batesville. If a majority of the votes cast on such measure shall be in favor thereof, same shall be and become in full force and effect; otherwise, slime shall be expunged from the records of the City. A Special Election is hereby called to be held at the usual polling places in the City of Batesville, Arkansas, on, and concurrent with the City General Election, November 8, 1955, for the purpose of determining whether said Ordinance shall become effective. Said election shall be conducted and the votes thereon canvassed and the results thereof declared under the law and in the manner now provided for Municipal Elections. The Mayor shall give notice of such election by embodying in the City General Election Proclamation due and proper reference to said Special Election, including the following, which shall be the ballot title on said questions FOR AGAINST ORDINANCE NO.Z*-5 4 An Ordinance A-u"Worizing and Directing the Introduction by the Batesville Water Company, Inc., of Fluoride into the Drinking Water Supply System which services the City of Batesville, Arkansas, such fluoridation to be in accord in all things with the rules, requirements and regulations of the Arkansas State Board of Health.
