having a slight problem of locating the new location primarily because of the lack of
signage. He said the new signs should be up soon.
C) ENGINEER'S REPORT
City Engineer Damon Johnson addressed the council with his monthly report. Mr.
Johnson said the street department was staying very busy repairing pot holes and
cleaning out culverts and ditches. He said they were expecting to receive hot mix in the
next couple of weeks and would be prioritizing the areas to patch. Mr. Johnson said they
finally got the last easement for Contract Section III. This job is an 8 to 10-million-dollar
sewer line replacement that begins at Riverside Park and ends at Charles Street in West
Batesville. He said they are working on the specs and hopes to go out for bids in late
spring. Mr. Johnson said he hopes to have a recommendation at the next meeting for a
bid to accept on the Eagle Mountain Water Tank. The 18" water line on White Drive is
complete and in service. He said the contractors only have a bit of clean-up left to do.
The Water Treatment Plant is in the process of replacing their filter medias. Mr. Johnson
said the filters are changed every 10 years. He also said he is working on the plants long
range plan for upgrades. The sanitation department is still waiting on their residential
automation truck. He said they are expecting it any time. Mr. Johnson said the issue on
Harrison Street (Hwy 69) is due to the collapse of a 80-100 year old infrastructure that
failed and caused the large sink hole. The highway department is doing the majority of
the work but is having to wait on utilities including gas and communication lines to be
moved. He said it is a very large job and will take time to repair. He added the large
amount of rain has slowed down the progress and asked the public to please be patient
with the repairs are being made.
