MINUTES OF COUNCIL <br /> MAY 7, 2018 <br /> The Batesville City Council met in special session on May 7t" at 12:00 pm at the <br /> Batesville Community Center. Mayor Rick Elumbaugh presided over the meeting. <br /> Upon roll call, the following Councilmembers answered present; Chris Beller, Tommy <br /> Bryant, Sonya Crafton, Margaret Henley, Chris Poole and David Shetron. Also present <br /> were the Admin. Assistant Jennifer Corter and City Attorney Tim Meitzen. City Clerk <br /> Denise Johnston and Councilmember Doug Matthews were absent. <br /> Councilmember Bryant moved to approve the prepared agenda. Councilmember <br /> Henley seconded and all voted for. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> A) CONSIDER AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE BATESVILLE ZONING CODE <br /> Mayor Elumbaugh asked Mr. Chad McClure to elaborate on the proposed <br /> changes to the zoning code which covers required parking spaces based on the <br /> size and type of commercial business. In a recent meeting, the Planning <br /> Commission had decided to keep the language that covered the parking <br /> requirements but is requesting that a "Waiver of Standards" be added to the <br /> code. This would give a developer an opportunity to submit a request for a <br /> variance to Code Enforcement in the event the building size is larger than <br /> needed parking. Councilmember Shetron expressed some concerns about the <br /> special meeting time and place, wanting to make sure the public had input on the <br /> matter. Councilmember Bryant noted that a public hearing on the matter had <br /> already been held by the Planning Commission. Councilmember Shetron had a <br /> few other concerns which was also discussed.
