<br />AN ORDINANCE REDISTRICTING WARDS FOR THE CITY OF BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS, DECLARING AN
<br />EMERGENCY, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
<br />WHEREAS, the City of Batesville has the authority to redistrict the Wards within the City upon a
<br />determination that the people can best be served by changing Ward boundaries to equalize the population
<br />in the various wards pursuant to Ark. Code Ann. Section 14-43-311; and,
<br />WHEREAS, the United States Census Bureau conducted the ten year Census of the United States in
<br />2020; and,
<br />WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the new 2020 Census information has created the
<br />need to redistrict the Wards to equalize the population of the Wards.
<br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF BATESVILLE ARKANSAS, THAT:
<br />Section 1: That the four (4) wards within the City of Batesville are hereby modified with the boundary lines
<br />as set forth below.
<br />WARD 1: Ward 1 shall be comprised of all that land within the City of Batesville described as follows:
<br />The area enclosed by a line beginning at the centerline intersection of S. St. Louis St. and Byers St., then,
<br />Run east along Byers St to its centerline intersection with the centerline of 17th St., then,
<br />Run north along 17th St. to its centerline intersection with the centerline intersection of Lyon St., then,
<br />Run east along Lyon St to its centerline intersection with the centerline of 19th St., then,
<br />Run north along 19th St. to its centerline intersection with the centerline of Porter St., then
<br />Run east along Porter St. to its centerline intersection with the centerline of 20th St., then,
<br />Run south along 20th St. to its centerline intersection with the centerline of Byers St., then,
<br />Run east along Byers St. to its centerline intersection with the centerline of 26th St., then,
<br />Run south along 26th St. to its centerline intersection with the centerline of Tanglewood St., then,
<br />Run west along Tanglewood St. to its centerline intersection with the centerline of Harrison St., then,
<br />Run east along Harrison St. to its centerline intersection with the Batesville city limits, then,
<br />Run along the city limits in a generally southerly, then westerly, then northerly, then southerly , then
<br />northerly direction to intersection of said city limits with the north shore of the White River, then,
<br />Run in a westerly direction along said north shore to its intersection with the centerline of S. St. Louis St.,
<br />then,
<br />Run north along S. St. Louis St. Louis St. to its centerline intersection with Byers St., the point of
<br />beginning.
<br />WARD 2: Ward 2 shall be comprised of all that land within the City of Batesville described as follows:
<br />The area enclosed by a line beginning at the centerline intersection of S. St. Louis St. and Byers St., then,
<br />Run east along Byers St to its centerline intersection with the centerline of 17th St., then,
<br />Run north along 17th St. to its centerline intersection with the centerline of Lyon St., then,
<br />Run east along Lyon St to its centerline intersection with the centerline of 19th St., then,
<br />Run north along 19th St. to its centerline intersection with the centerline of E. College Ave., then,
<br />Run east along E. College Ave. to its centerline intersection with the centerline of Gwyn St., then,
<br />Run north along Gwyn St. to its centerline intersection with the centerline of Bearette St., then,
<br />Run east along Bearette St. centerline to the mid -point of a curve running to the south, then,
<br />Run due north along a line to its intersection with the Batesville city limits, then
<br />
