ORDINANCE NO.V — 0 <br />AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE BATESVILLE ZONING DISTRICTS MAP; AND FOR <br />OTHER PURPOSES. <br />WHEREAS, a proposal to amend the Batesville Zoning Districts map was presented to the <br />Batesville Planning Commission as a means to improve the diversity of housing choices in the city; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Batesville Planning Commission conducted a properly advertised public hearing <br />on September 13, 2021, but withheld making a recommendation because it determined a revision to the <br />Comprehensive Plan would have to be approved in order to justify such a zoning revision to be consistent <br />with the Comprehensive Plan; and; and <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission held a public hearing to consider an amendment to the <br />Comprehensive Plan and did in fact adopt said amendment; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Batesville Planning Commission, at its regular meeting on October 4, 2021, has <br />reviewed the relationship of this property with the updated Comprehensive Plan and determined that <br />proposed zoning classification would be consistent with said Plan and that such an amendment would be <br />in the best interests of the future development of the city; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Batesville Planning Commission has recommended that the requested <br />amendment to the Zoning Districts map be approved by the City Council. <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS: <br />Section 1. Properties currently zoned Historic Residential (HR -1) in an area bounded on the north side <br />of Bates Street, the south side of Broad Street, River Street and Slater Street, are hereby changed to Single <br />Family Residential (R-1) or Medium Density Residential (R-2), as shown at Exhibit A attached hereto <br />and included herein by reference. <br />Section 2.
