L„ CITY OF BATESVILLE Attendance and Pay <br /> Employee Handbook <br /> A. PAY PERIODS / PAY CHECKS <br /> City of Batesville employees are paid weekly, semi-weekly, or bi-monthly <br /> depending on your particular department. <br /> Time sheets shall include all hours worked and any deviation from a straight 40- <br /> hour workweek, such as vacation, sick leave or other time off, overtime worked, <br /> etc. Request for leave forms must be turned in with time sheets to document any <br /> leave taken. <br /> B. PAYROLL DEDUCTIONS <br /> Deductions from each employee's gross pay period earnings are of two types: <br /> mandatory and voluntary. <br /> Mandatory deductions are those that the City of Batesville is required to make by <br /> law, court order, or other legally compelling influence on payroll. Such <br /> deductions include state and federal income tax withholding, social security, and <br /> wage garnishments. <br /> Mandatory deductions, in accordance with applicable legal requirements, will be <br /> made automatically by the City of Batesville. However, such mandatory <br /> deductions as state and/or federal income tax where the City must rely on <br /> information provided by an employee, will be the sole responsibility of the <br /> employee to provide accurate information within legal limitations. <br /> Voluntary deductions are those requested by employees to be made on their <br /> behalf and may include such items as supplemental insurance, deferred <br /> compensation, etc. With the approval of the City Clerk's office, additional <br /> withholdings may be added to the list if at least 10 employees request it. <br /> Voluntary deductions will not be made without the employee's signed request or <br /> authorization, and advance approval of the City Clerk's office. <br /> C. GARNISHMENTS <br /> The City of Batesville expects its employees to take care of their financial <br /> obligations on time to maintain a good reputation in the community. However, <br /> when an employee does not meet his/her obligations, wages may be garnished <br /> by a creditor for non-payment when the creditor wins a court judgment. <br /> 8 <br />
