Resolution: <br />A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE CITY OF BATESVILLE COMPREHENSIVE SAFETY ACTION PLAN <br />WHEREAS, there were 2,422 crashes reported within the city limits of Batesville from 2018 to 2022; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, 7 people lost their lives in crash -related deaths on Batesville roadways in the five-year <br />period; and <br />WHEREAS, there were 43 people with suspected serious injuries caused from crashes on <br />Batesville roadways in the five-year period; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Batesville is committed to the goal of significantly reducing and ultimately <br />eliminating roadway fatalities and serious injuries on roadways within the City's police jurisdiction. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS, that the City adopts a goal of reducing crash -related fatalities and <br />serious injuries by FIFTY PERCENT OR MORE by the year 2035; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City adopts a goal of reducing crash -related fatalities and <br />serious injuries to ZERO by the year 2045; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City adopts this Comprehensive Safety Action Plan, of the Safe <br />Streets and Roads for All initiative, to serve as a guiding document for the City as they work toward <br />achieving their safety performance goals. <br />This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by on this the <br />22nd day of April, 2025. <br />PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED this 22"d day of April, 2025. <br />Rick Elumbaugh, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />Jessica Davis, City Clerk <br />
