ii <br /> • RESOLUTION NO._J1—C_ <br /> WHEREAS, the Batesville City Council has given extensive study and consid- <br /> eration to the need for certain capital improvements in the City of Batesville <br /> and to the County Courthouse and Jail ; and <br /> WHEREAS, The City Council has made a committment to its citizens to <br /> provide a means for a healthy economy, growth, and improvements to the quality <br /> of life for its citizens and neighbors; and <br /> WHEREAS, a one-half cent county-wide temporary sales tax would make <br /> , possible a bond issue for capital improvements to the Batesville Water System, <br /> thereby lowering water rates and resulting in a climate more conducive to <br /> i <br /> industry, business and residential growth; and <br /> • WHEREAS, a one-cent county-wide temporary sales tax would make possible <br /> a bond issue to finance construction of a new Independence County Jail facility, <br /> ! which provides incarceration services for the City of Batesville; and <br /> WHEREAS, a one-half cent county-wide temporary sales tax would make <br /> i <br /> possible a bond issue to finance improvements to the County Courthouse, including <br /> handicapped accessibility thereby providing a more safe and healthy environment <br /> for those in need of services from the County government. <br /> I <br /> i <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Batesville City Council wishes <br /> to make known its support of the Independence County People for Progress <br /> � in working for passage of a one-half cent county-wide temporary sales tax <br /> � to finance these necessary and inportant capital improvement projects for <br /> the benefit of the entire County. <br /> PASSED AND APPROVED this DAY OF �� y, 1991. <br /> MAY <br /> i <br /> ATTEST: <br />
