HomeMy WebLinkAbout2007-07-10 MINUTES OF COUNCIL JULY 10, 2007 The Batesville City Council met in regular session on July 10, at 5:30 PM at the Municipal Building. Mayor Rick Elumbaugh presided over the meeting. Councilmember R.L. Carpenter gave the invocation. Upon roll call the following councilmembers answered present: R.L. Carpenter, Doug Matthews, Matt McDonald, Trula Pectol, and Stephen Smart. The City Clerk was also present. Councilmembers Krug, Shetron and Terrell and City Attorney Stalker were absent. Councilmember Smart moved to approve the minutes from the previous meeting and Councilmember Carpenter seconded. All voted for. Councilmember Carpenter moved to approve the prepared agenda. Councilmember Matthews seconded and all voted for. Mayor Elumbaugh introduced and welcomed Ms. Trula Pectol to the council. Ms. Pectol is fulfilling the unexpired term of her husband, Jerry Pectol who passed away June 1, 2007. COMMENTS FROM CITIZENS None UNFINISHED BUSINESS None NEW BUSINESS A) CONSIDER AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE UTILITIES AFTER HOURS DISCONNECT FEE SCHEDULE. Mayor Elumbaugh said he and Mr. Jerry Jeffery with the utilities department decided to put off the proposed ordinance until the next meeting to make further amendments to the utilities ordinance. B) I & I PRESENTATION Mr.'s Jim Ulmer, Jeff Denheardt, Jeff Richards, and David Parker all with McGoodwin, Williams and Yates Engineering firm gave a presentation of their recent flow monitoring and infiltration/inflow study. C) REVIEW CITY ANNUAL AUDIT The council reviewed the 2005 Legislative Audit report. Councilmember McDonald moved to accept the report and Councilmember Matthews seconded. All voted for. D) REVIEW PAID BILLS REPORT The council reviewed the monthly paid bills report for June, 2007. COMMENTS FROM THE MAYOR Mayor Elumbaugh said due to shortage in the Cemetery Department and Animal Control, the City hired a temporary employee to help in both departments. The new employee, Nick Weathers is the stepson of one of the Cemetery employees who was on sick leave when Mr. Weathers was hired. The City's handbook does not allow for an employee to work under the direct supervision of a relative without the council's approval. The Mayor said Mr. Weathers will be needed throughout the summer. The council approved keeping Mr. Weathers through the summer to help in both departments. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, Councilmember Smart moved that the meeting be adjourned.
