FEBRUARY 13, 2007
The Batesville City Council met in regular session on February 13, at 5:30
PM at the Municipal Building. Mayor Rick Elumbaugh presided over the meeting.
Councilmember Matthews gave the invocation. Upon roll call the following
councilmembers answered present: R.L. Carpenter, Fred Krug, Doug Matthews,
Matt McDonald, David Shetron, Stephen Smart and Paula Terrell. Also present
were the City Clerk and the City Attorney. Councilmember Pectol was absent.
Councilmember Smart moved to approve the minutes from the previous
meeting and Councilmember Shetron seconded. All voted for.
Councilmember Shetron moved to approve the prepared agenda.
Councilmember Matthews seconded and all voted for.

NEW BUSINESS
A) RECOGNITION OF LYON COLLEGE BASEBALL TEAM
Mayor Elumbaugh introduced Coach Kirk Kelley with the Lyon
College Baseball team who then introduced his assistant coaches Robbie
Holmes and Tony Roepke. Mayor Elumbaugh congratulated the coaches and
players for starting out their season with 7 wins and no losses. Each baseball
player then introduced themselves and stated the city and state they were from
and what position they played on the team.
B) REPORT FROM MYRA WOOD WITH VITAL LINK
Ms. Myra Wood, Executive Director with Vital Link addressed the
council with an annual update for Batesville and Independence County regarding
the Vital Link ambulance service. Ms. Wood gave a through report and reminded
the council that Vital Link has an exclusive franchise that is up for renewal in
September, 2007. She said she would be back before the council late summer
to request a renewal of the franchise.
C) PAID BILLS REPORT
The council was given a copy of the paid bills report for January 31,
2007.
CEMETERY RESOLUTION
The council considered a cemetery resolution for Carl Hill, #1-321-07 for
$400.00. Councilmember Terrell moved to approve the cemetery resolution and
Councilmember Smart seconded. All voted for.
COMMENTS FROM THE MAYOR
Mayor Elumbaugh said he and the Fire Chief Danny Russell would be
signing the contract for the new Ariel Fire Truck after the meeting.
Congressman Marion Berry will be in Batesville Monday, February 19 from
11:00 AM — 1:00 PM at City Hall. The Mayor said Mr. Berry would meet with the
public from 11:00 to 12:00 and then a round table discussion with elected officials
from 12:00 to 1:00.
Mayor Elumbaugh reminded the council that Channel 4 would be
broadcasting their morning show this Friday at Josie's from 5:00 to 7:00 AM.
LIAISON REPORTS
Councilmember Terrell said she was calling for a Traffic Committee
meeting this Thursday at 5:15 at City Hall.
Councilmember Smart said the Cemetery Committee met and indorsed
the rate increases that the council adopted at the last meeting. He also said they
were working on getting a copy of the original plat map of Oaklawn Cemetery.

There being no further business, Councilmember Matthews moved that
the meeting be adjourned. Councilmember Terrell seconded and all voted for.
