MARCH 13, 2007
The Batesville City Council met in regular session on March 13, at 5:30
PM at the Municipal Building. Mayor Rick Elumbaugh presided over the meeting.
Councilmember Terrell gave the invocation. Upon roll call the following
councilmembers answered present: R.L. Carpenter, Fred Krug, Doug Matthews,
Matt McDonald, Jerry Pectol, David Shetron, Stephen Smart and Paula Terrell.
Also present were the City Clerk and the City Attorney.
Councilmember Smart moved to approve the minutes from the previous
meeting and Councilmember Shetron seconded. All voted for.
Councilmember Shetron moved to approve the prepared agenda.
Councilmember Terrell seconded and all voted for.

NEW BUSINESS
(A) RECOGNIZE THE BATESVILLE HIGH SCHOOL LADY PIONEER
CROSS COUNTRY TEAM
Mayor Elumbaugh introduced Coach Diane Treadway of the
Batesville High School Lady Pioneer Cross Country Team. Each team member
was introduced and presented with an appreciation certificate. The Lady
Pioneer's have won the state championship for three years in a row.
(B) CONSIDER SEWER CONNECTION OUTSIDE THE CITY LIMITS
Water Utility Asst. Manager Jerry Jeffery addressed the council with
a request for a sewer connection outside the city limits. Mr. Michael Johnson
was making the request. Mr. Johnson bought property in Spring Valley in which
the previous land owner gave the utility department easements rights in
exchange for the right to hook onto the sewer. Councilmember Carpenter moved
to grant the connection and Councilmember Shetron seconded. All vote for.
(C) POWER POINT PRESENTATION FROM BATESVILLE WATER
UTILITIES
The Batesville Water Utility gave a power point presentation
showing several construction jobs and various routine business practices.
(D) PAID BILLS REPORT
The council was given a copy of the paid bills report for February,
2007
(E) CONSIDER CEMETERY RESOLUTION
The council considered a cemetery resolution for Charles Goff,
Resolution #2007-72-1, in the amount of$1,600.00. Councilmember Terrell
moved to accept the resolution. Councilmember Smart seconded and all voted
for.
MAYOR'S ANNOUNCEMENTS
Mayor Elumbaugh said the inmates from the Grimes Unit in Newport were
working hard on the Bayou Nature Walk Project. He said the work is progressing
nicely and has only cost the city a couple of meals for the inmates.
The Mayor said the Quorum Court last night approved the purchase of a
lift truck to be shared with the City. The Mayor said the details have not yet been
worked out but he thinks the county is paying for the truck and the city will be
responsible for the upkeep.
The Mayor informed the council that the old Ariel fire truck was listed on
Ebay for sale. Currently the bid is at $3,050.00 and the auction will end Friday.
He also announced that the fire department had been approved for a $9,000.00
grant to purchase equipment to make badges and scanning labels for equipment.

COMMENTS FROM COUNCILMEMBERS
Councilmember Terrell said the Traffic Committee was consulting with Mr.
Greg Simmons about having traffic studies preformed on several streets in
Batesville including the one-way streets.
There being no further business, Councilmember Matthews moved that
the meeting be adjourned and Councilmember Pectol seconded. All voted for.
