MINUTES OF COUNCIL
SPECIAL MEETING
DECEMBER 28, 2005
The Batesville City Council met in special session on December 28, at
2:30 PM at the Municipal Building. Mayor Joe Biard presided over the meeting.
Upon roll call the following councilmembers answered present: R.L. Carpenter,
John Cooke, Fred Krug, Dana Mynatt, Jerry Pectol, Stephen Smart and Paula
Terrell. The City Clerk was also present. Councilmember Doug Matthews and
City Attorney Scott Stalker were absent.
Councilmember Cooke moved to approve the prepared agenda.
Councilmember Krug seconded and all voted for.
CONSIDER NEW EMPLOYEE HEALTH INSURANCE
The council discussed the bids for a new health insurance plan for city
employees. In order to cut costs, Councilmember Mynatt moved in regards to
city council insurance, the city pay for the councilmember premium only and not
for any dependant coverage. Councilmember Krug seconded. The roll call count
was three for (Cooke, Krug and Mynatt) and four against (Carpenter, Pectol,
Smart and Terrell). The motion failed. Councilmember Terrell moved to accept
the bid from White River Insurance and to go with Option 2-A as of January 1St
contingent upon the Municipal League waving their required 30 day notice for
cancellation. Councilmember Carpenter seconded and all voted for except
Councilmember Cooke who abstained from voting.
The new insurance is a four-tier plan therefore in order to cut costs,
Councilmember Krug moved to not "double cover" on the dependant coverage.
