ORDINANCE NO.
® AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 3.04.01, 3.04.02 AND 3.04.03 OF THE BATESVILLE
MUNICIPAL CODE PERTAINING TO CITY PURCHASES AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
Section l: Section 3.04.01 of the Batesville Municipal Code is hereby amended
to read as follows:
The Mayor or his duly authorized representative shall have exclusive
power and responsibility to make purchases of all supplies , apparatus,
equipment, materials and other things requisite for public purposes
in and for the City of Batesville, and to make all necessary contracts
for work or labor to be done, or material or other things to be fur-
nished for the benefit of the City or in carrying out any work or
undertaking of a public nature therein where the total expenditures
therefor is One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) or less.
Section 2: Section 3.04.02 of the Batesville Municipal Code is hereby amended
to read as follows:
All purchases of supplies , apparatus , equipment, materials and other
things requisite for public purposes, contracts for work or labor to
be done, material and other necessary things to be furnished to the
City where the expenditure is greater than One Thousand Dollars
($1,000.00) but not exceeding Three Thousand Dollars (03,000.00)
shall be made or contracted for by the Mayor or his duly authorized
• representative only after the securing of quotation bids therefor.
Provided, however, purchases of less than Three Thousand Dollars
($3,000.00) at State bid prices shall be exempt from the provisions
of this ordinance.
Section 3: Section 3.04.03 of the Batesville Municipal Code is hereby amended
to read as follows:
Inhere the amount of expenditure for any purpose or contract exceeds
the sum of Three Thousand Dollars ($3,000.00) the Mayor or his
duly authorized representative shall invite competitive bidding
thereon by legal advertisement in any local newspaper. Bids re-
ceived pursuant to said advertisment shall be opened and read on
the date set for receiving said bids in the presence of the Mayor
or his duly authorized representative together with the City Council .
The City Council shall have exclusive power, by majority vote, to
award the bid to the lowest responsible bidder, provided, however,
the Council , by majority vote, may reject any and all bids received.
Section 4: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed.
