ORDINANCE NO. �' 3 Z 4& AN ORDINANCE CHANGING THE NAME OF VERDA STREET IN THE CITY OF BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS TO JEAN STREET; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, the City Council has the power and authority to officially change by specific ordinance a street name previously named on the "Street Name Map of Batesville, Arkansas" as certified by the City Planning Comm- ission under the authority of Batesville Municipal Code, Section 9.32.01, and WHEREAS, a street known as Verda Street has been so noted on the above i mentioned street map, and WHEREAS, the residents and land owners living on said Verda Street have referred to and have known of said Verda Street as Jean Street, and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the residents and land owners of said Verda Street as well as the City of Batesville that the name of Verda Street be • changed to Jean Street for purposes of continuity, convenience and necessity. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BATES- VILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT: Section 1: Pursuant to the authority of the Batesville Municipal Code, Section 9. 32.01, Verda Street in the City of Batesville, Arkansas, shall , and hereby is renamed Jean Street and such notation shall be made on the street name map of Batesville, Arkansas. Section 2: That an existing Jean Street is platted but remains unopened and it is in the best interest of the City of Batesville that the unopened Jean Street be deemed unnamed until such time as it is opened. Section 3: All other ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed but only to the extent of such conflict. Section 4: This ordinance being necessary for the immediate preservation of health, safety and welfare of the City, an emergency is hereby declared and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon passage.
