RESOLUTION NO. S
A RESOLUTION CALLING FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE �Z774 DAY OF
MAY, 1981, TO FILL THE VACANCY IN THE OFFICE OF MAYOR OF THE CITY OF
BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS:
WHEREAS, the office of Mayor of the City of Batesville, Arkansas is now vacant
due to the resignation of Mayor Peyton Golden on March 6, 1981; and,
WIEREAS, the current term of Mayor will not expire until January 1, 1983; and,
WHEREAS, Ark. Stat. Ann. §19-1012 (Repl. 1980) requires that the City Council
call for a special election whenever an unexpired term exceeds six (6) months;
and,
WHEREAS, Ark. Stat. Ann. §3-603 (Repl. 1976) provides that said election shall
be no earlier than thirty (30) days following this proclamation.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BATESVILLE,
ARKANSAS:
Section l: A Special Election shall be held on the 27N day of May, 1981 to
elect a successor to the unexpired term of the office of Mayor of the City of
Batesville, Arkansas.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Batesville, Arkansas
respectfully requests the Independence County Election Commission to conduct
the election in accordance with the lags of the State of Arkansas.
Section 3. That the City Clerk of the City of Batesville, Arkansas is hereby
directed to deliver to the Secretary of the Independence County Election
Commission a certified copy of this proclamation forthwith.
Section 4. This Resolution proclaiming a Special Election shall be in full
force and effect immediately upon its adoption and approval.
ADOPTED this 13th day of March, 1981.
