HomeMy WebLinkAbout1981-762-R (WRESOLUTION ENACTED By the City Council of Batesville, Arkansas sponsored by Aldermen Ed Williams and Ronald Sandstead WHEREAS, on March 30, 1981, an attempt was made upon the life of the President of the United States, and WHEREAS, the President along with his Press Secretary, James L. Brady, were seriously injured, and WHEREAS, Secret Service Agent Timothy McCarthy demonstrated the courage instilled in one assigned to protect our President and was wounded in the line of duty, and WHEREAS, Washington Metropolitan Policeman, Thomas Delahunty risked his own life to save our President and suffered a bullet wound in the course of so doing, and, WHEREAS, all four of the courageous and gallant men under the skillful guidance of outstanding medical experts have made truly re- markable recoveries. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS, that we express our appreciation to Misiers Brady, McCarthy and Delahunty for their efforts to save our President and further express our warmest appreciation to our courageous President Ronald Reagan for his determination to recover so quickly in order to provide for leadership our nation needs in these troubled times. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk send copies of this Resolution to Senators Dale Bumpers and David Pryor with the request that it be published in the Congressional Record.
