WHFR7AS, it has come to the attention of the City Council of
the City of Batesville that the Arkansas Highway Department has
plans to vacate, in the near future, the buildings and premises
of its present district headquarters situated at Bates and St.
Louis Streets in the City of Batesville and;
WHEREAS, a great need exists in the City of Batesville for a
more centrally located fire station in the direction of the city
growth and for a larger city maintenance shop and equipment yard
and;
WHEREAS, the recent influx of industry and people to the City
of Batesville has enhanced the above needs to a point where the
City will shortly be required. to undertake a costly building pro-
gram unless suitable existing facilities can be secured and;
WHEREAS, the aforesaid Arkansas Highway Department District
Headquarters administration building and the adjoining maintenance
shop and equipment yard would be readily adaptable for use by
the City in fulfiling these pressing needs;
NOW TH7h-FORE BE IT RESOLV D, that the City Council of the City
of Batesville does hereby respectfully request the Arkansas High-
way Commission to give every consideration possible to aid the
City in its efforts to secure the above mentioned Arkansas High-
way Department premises for use in fulfiling the needs of the
growing City of Batesville.
