JANUARY 25, 1999
The Batesville City Council met for its regular meeting on January 25, at
5:30 P.M. at the Municipal Building. Mayor Joe Biard presided over the meeting.
Councilmember Gaither gave the invocation. Upon roll call, all the council
answered present. Also present were the City Clerk and the City Attorney.
Councilmember Ford moved to approve the minutes from the previous
meeting. Councilmember Pectol seconded and all voted for.
Councilmember Ford moved to approve the prepared agenda and
Councilmember Gaither seconded. All voted for.
CONSIDER AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE 1998 BUDGET
Mayor Biard read an ordinance that would amend the 1998 budget
pertaining to revenues and expenditures in certain funds and classifications.
Councilmember Bone moved to suspend the rules and place the ordinance on
the second reading. Councilmember Cargill seconded and the roll call count was
8 for and 0 against. The Mayor read the ordinance for the second reading.
Councilmember Bone moved to further suspend the rules and place the
ordinance on the final reading. Councilmember Pectol seconded and the roll
count was 8 for and 0 against. The Mayor read the ordinance for the third
reading and Councilmember Cargill moved to adopt the ordinance.
Councilmember Insell seconded and the roll call count was 8 for and 0 against.
The ordinance was given #99-1-4.
STATE OF THE CITY
Mayor Biard furnished the council with a copy of the "State of The City" as
required by law.
PLANNING COMMISSION
Mayor Biard asked the council to approve the appointment of Fred Wann
to replace Chaney Taylor, Jr. to the Planning Commission. Mr. Taylor resigned
his appointment after being elected as a State Representative. Mr. Wann's term
will expire June 10, 2000. Councilmember Insell moved to approve the
appointment and Councilmember Bone seconded. All voted for.
CEMETERY RESOLUTIONS
The council considered a cemetery resolution for John McCuin, Resolution
#99-25-1, in the amount of$300.00. Councilmember Gaither moved to accept
the resolution and Councilmember Insell seconded. All voted for.
There being no further business, Councilmember Mitchum moved that the
meeting be adjourned. Councilmember Insell seconded and all voted for.
