CITY OF BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS
A RESOLUTION TO ESTABLISH A SISTER CITY PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN THE
CITY OF BATESVILLE AND ASUNAFO-NORTH MUNICIPAL DISTRICT OF
GHANA
WHEREAS, Mayor Elumbaugh of the City of Batesville, Arkansas recently
visited Ghana and executed a Promissory Memorandum of Understanding between the
City of Batesville and Asunafo-North Municipal Assembly and in so doing committed
himself to presenting to the Batesville City Counsel the concept of a Sister City
Relationship between the two municipalities;
WHEREAS, a sister city partnership facilitates a mutually beneficial relationship
between two cities for the exchange of information, expertise, and culture; and
WHEREAS, the City of Batesville and Asunafo-North Municipal District of
Ghana wish to continue to develop their relationship for the mutual benefit of both cities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. A sister city partnership is hereby established between the City of
Batesville, Arkansas and Asunafo-North Municipal District of Ghana for the purpose of
communication, economic development, and the exchange of information, expertise, and
culture.
SECTION 2.This resolution shall be come effective on the date of passage.
ADOPTED THIS 10th DAY OF NOVEMBER, 2015.
