HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000-03-28 MINUTES OF COUNCIL MARCH 28, 2000 The Batesville City Council met for its regular meeting on March 28, at 5:30 P.M. at the Municipal Building. Mayor Joe Biard presided over the meeting. Councilmember Ford gave the invocation. Upon roll call, all the council answered present. Also present were the City Clerk and the City Attorney. Councilmember Ford moved to approve the minutes from the previous meeting. Councilmember Gaither seconded and all voted for. Councilmember Cargill moved to approve the prepared agenda. Councilmember Ford seconded and all voted for. CONSIDER AN ORDINANCE REGULATING SIGNS WITHIN THE CITY OF BATESVILLE Councilmember Bone introduced an ordinance that would amend the zoning code in regard to the location, size, and type of signs that are to be permitted and placed within a Residential 1, Residential 2, Commercial 1, Commercial 2, Commercial 3, Industrial 1 and Industrial 2 zoning districts within the City of Batesville. Mayor Biard read the ordinance for the first reading. Councilmember Bone moved to suspend the rules and place the ordinance on the second reading. Councilmember Pectol seconded and the roll call count was 6 for and 2 (Carpenter and Insell) against. The Mayor read the ordinance for the second reading and Councilmember Cargill moved to table the ordinance and place it on the agenda for the first meeting in April. Councilmember Ford seconded and the roll call count was 6 for and 2 (Pectol and Bone) against. MAYOR'S ANNOUNCEMENTS Mayor Biard said bids would be opened April 5t" for the second phase of the Bayou clean-up. Mr. McClure showed the council a video of property located at 548 Broad Street. Mr. Dale Hughes, owner of the property also addressed the council. Mr. Hughes was at a council meeting almost one year ago asking for about 9 months to clean up the property. Mr. Hughes said he had to stop the restoration on Broad Street to work on an addition on his own house. Mr. Hughes said he needs about 6 weeks before he can start back on the restoration. Councilmember Cargill moved that a report be made at the May 9t" meeting to check the progress of the restoration. Councilmember Ford seconded and all voted for. FINANCIAL STATEMENT The council was given a copy of the financial statement for the month ending February 29, 2000.
