AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NUMBER 2009-2-1 ADOPTING THE 2012
ARKANSAS STATE FIRE CODE, 2013 ARKANSAS CRIMINAL AND TRAFFIC CODES, AND
CURRENT BUILDING AND INSPECTION CODES, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BATESVILLE,ARKANSAS:
SECTIONI: The various codes relating to inspection activities within the City of Batesville are
hereby adopted by reference as though it was copied herein fully:

2012 Arkansas State Fire Prevention Code, Volume 2
2012 Arkansas State Fire Prevention Code, Volume 3
2015 International Building Code
2015 International Building Code 1 and Family
2014 National Electrical Code
2006 Arkansas Plumbing Code
2006 Arkansas Fuel Gas Code
2010 Arkansas Mechanical Code
2013 Arkansas Criminal and Traffic Codes
SECTION 2: Floor-level exit signs: In all occupant groups less and except single family dwellings.
Floor-level exit signs shall be required in all occupancies except single family dwellings and shall
meet section 1011.1 of the 2012 Arkansas fire Code and shall be installed as follows:The
bottom of the sign shall be not less than 10 inches (254mm) nor more than12 inches (305mm)
above the floor level. The sign shall be flush mounted to the door or wall. Where mounted on
the wall, the edge of the sign shall be within 4 inches (102mm) of the door frame on the latch
side.
SECTION 3: SEVERABILITY: If any part of this ordinance shall be held void, such part shall be
deemed severable, and the invalidity thereof shall not affect the remaining parts of this
ordinance.
SECTION 4: EMERGENCY CLAUSE: For the purpose of bringing the appropriate building codes
up-to-date in a timely manner, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance
being necessary for the public peace, health and safety shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage.
