ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ELECTRICAL CODE, CHAPTER 11.20 OF THE BATESVILLE
MUNICIPAL CODE, OF THE CITY OF BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES:
Be it hereby ordained and adopted by the City Council of the City of
Batesville, Arkansas:
SECTION 1: That Section 11.20.02 of the Batesville Municipal Code of
the City of Batesville, Arkansas is hereby amended to read as follows:
The code enforcement officer responsible for administering this
code shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to approval of the
City Council. Said code enforcement officer shall be called the
electrical inspector and shall have had at least three (3) years
of practical experience as a master electrician and shall be of
good moral character. He shall be versed in approved methods of
electrical construction for safety of life and property and shall
be fully acquainted with the National Electric Code. He shall
receive such compensation as the City Council may hereafter provide.
SECTION 2: That Section 11.20.07 of the Batesville Municipal Code of
the City of Batesville, Arkansas is hereby amended to read as follows:
Licensing of electricians: Any person, firm or corporation desiring
to engage in the business of electrical construction or of the in-
stallation of wiring and apparatus for electric light, appliances,
heating or power in the City of Batesville, Arkansas shall before
doing so, obtain a license therefor. The fee for a person, firm or
corporation performing work and qualified as a master electrician
shall be twenty five dollars ($25.00) per year. The fee for a
person, firm or corporation performing work and qualified as a
journeyman electrician shall be fifteen dollars ($15.00) per year.
Said fees shall be paid into the City Treasury before such license
shall become effective.
SECTION 3: That Section 11.20.09 of the Batesville Municipal Code of
the City of Batesville, Arkansas is hereby amended to read as follows:
Qualifications: No license shall be issued until the party
applying for same has given satisfactory evidence to the code
enforcement officer, by examination or other suitable means of
his or their ability to do said electrical work in a safe and
satisfactory manner. A master electrician shall possess the
necessary qualifications, training and technical knowledge to
plan, lay out, and supervise the installation, maintenance, and
extension of electrical conductors and equipment. A journeyman
electricial shall possess the necessary qualifications, training,
technical knowledge to install, maintain and extend electrical con-
ductors and equipment; further, he shall be capable of doing such
work in accordance with plans and specifications furnished in ac-
cordance with standard rules and regulations governing such work.
No permit for installation or alteration of any wiring, heating de-
vices, motors, appliances and apparatus shall be issued until the
license and bond herein required have been obtained.
SECTION 4: All ordinances or parts of ordinances which conflict with
the provisions of this ordinances are hereby expressly repealed.
�.. SECTION 5: This ordinance being necessary for the safety and welfare
of the public an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance
shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage.
