AN ORDINANCE ALLOWING AN EXEMPTION FROM THE INCREASED
CITY GARBAGE RATE FOR THOSE OF THE AGE OF 65 YEARS OR
OLDER UPON PROOF OF HARDSHIP; DECLARING A DECLARENCY;
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDERED BY THE BATESVILLE CITY COUNCIL, BATESVILLE,
ARKANSAS THAT:
1. Any resident Sixty-five (65) years of age or older shall
be exempted from the new garbage rate of Two Dollars Seventy-five Cents
($2.75) per month if such person, male or female, will execute a veri-
fied statement that the new increased garbage rate will adversely affect
his or her standard of living. That in the event a person does execute
a verified statement to this effect, the rate of monthly garbage charge
shall remain at One Dollar Fifty Cents ($1.50) per month until otherwise
changed by said City Council.
2. That an emergency is therefore declared and this ordinance
being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health, and safety
shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage.
