AN ORDINANCE CREATING ONE WAY STREETS
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY & OTHER PURPOSES
WHEREAS the City of Batesville desires to have sa,#e travel upon
its streets and
WHEREAS the City of Batesville has made a study from time to time
of the TOPICS program recommending one-way streets.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF BATESVILLE,
ARKANSAS as follows:
1. That one-way vehicle traffic only shall be allowed
on the following street segments and all vehicle travel on said
street segments shall be in the direction set -out in this ordinance.
A. Main Street shall be a one-way street between
St. Louis Street and State Street. The direction of vehicle
travel shall be in a Southwesterly direction from St. Louis Street
toward State Street.
B. College Street shall be a one-way street between
St. Louis Street and State Street. The direction of vehicle
travel shall be in a Northeasterly direction from State Street
toward St. Louis Street.
C. Third Street shall be a one-way street
between College Street and Water Street. The direction of
vehicle travel shall be in a Northerly direction from College
toward Water Street.
D. Fourth Street shall be a one-way street
between Harrison Street and Water Street. 11he direction of
vehicle travel shall be in a Southerly direction from Water
Street toward Harrison Street.
E. Fifth Street shall be a one-way street
between Harrison Street and Water Street. The direction of
vehicle travel shall be in a Northerly direction from Harrison
Street from Harrison Street toward Water Street.
2. No vehicle shall travel the streets in any direc-
tion other than set -out in this ordinance and two-way traffic is
hereby prohibited.
3. Any person who drives or causes to be driven a
vehicle upon said street segments in a direction other than set -
out by this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and fined
not less than $5.00 nor more than $100.00.
4. Because of congested traffic conditions and unsafe
travel created by two-way traffic in tine area described herein
and further because increased traffic flow and safety isneeded
in the area, and in order to create safer intersection of tine
streets named herein, this ordinance is declared necessary for
the safety of the citizens of Batesville and an emergency is here-
by declared and shall be in full force and effect from and after
its passage.,
