TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES ON HIGHWAY 167
WHEREAS, the Arkansas Highway Commission, by its Job No. 5612, will make
extensive highway and traffic control improvements on Highway 167 in the
Batesville area; and -
WHEREAS, a part of these improvements will be the installation of traffic
signals at the following intersections:
Highway 167 and Main
Highway 167 and College
Highway 167 and Harrison
Highway 167 and Lawrence
WHEREAS, the inclusion of traffic signals in the improvements is subject to
the following conditions:
1. Agreement by the City to remove all unwarranted and substandard
traffic control devices along Highways in the City.
2. Agreement by the City to furnish, at no cost to the State, current
to power the electrically traffic control signals.
3. Acceptance by the City of responsibility for maintenance and upkeep
of the traffic signals at no cost to the State.
4. Agreement by the City to maintain and operate the traffic signals
on time cycles provided by the Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of Batesville, Arkansas:

Section 1. The traffic signals installed by the Highway Department under
Job No. 5612 shall be maintained and operated by the City of
Batesville at no cost to the State, on schedules and time settings
provided by the Highway Department.
Section 2. All Ordinances and parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed.
Section 3. This Ordinance being necessary for the immediate preservation of
the public peace, welfare, and safety, and emergency is hereby
declared to exist, and this Ordinance shall be in force and effect
from and after its passage.
