AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR RETIREMENT OF CITY TREASURERS,
PAST & PRESENT, APPROPRIATING MONEY FOR SAME DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY & OTHER PURPOSES

WHEREAS the City of Batesville desires to comply with ACT 349
of 1971 regarding retirement of City Treasurers, NOW THEREFORE:
Be It Ordained By The City Council of Batesville, Arkansas as
follows:
SECTION 1: That any person who has served as City
Treasurer of Batesville for a period of 20 years who shall retire
from office or be succeeded by another City Treasurer, shall upon
reaching sixty (60) years of age receive for the remainder of
his/her life the retirement pay provided for in SECTION 2 of
this Ordinance.
SECTION 2: Any City Treasurer who shall retire or be
succeeded by another City Treasurer within the provisions of
SECTION 1 of this Ordinance shall be paid monthly a sum equal to
one-half (z) of the monthly salary received by him/her during the
last preceding year of his/her service. Such retirement pay shall
be paid by the city from its General Fund Account.
SECTION 3: Because there is no retirement provision for
City Treasurer in Batesville and in order to encourage competent
and qualified people to seek and accept the position of
Treasurer in Batesville, an emergency is hereby declared to
exist and this Ordinance being necessary for the public weal
shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage.
