ORDINANCE NO.,�
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR PARTIAL COMPENSATION
OF THE CITY ATTOR14EY, FOR CHANGING THE METHOD PRESENTLY USED
IN THE COURTS OF ASSESSING FEES, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND
OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS the General Assembly of the State of
Arkansas has provided by law that the city attorney may
receive as part of his compensation for all prosecutions
tried by such city attorney for violations of ordinances of
a city and for all prosecutions tried by such city attorney
for violations of state laws committed within the corporate
limits of a city, the same fees as are allowed prosecuting
attorneys in criminal cases, and
WHEREAS, the city attorney must in such instances
perform the same work as the prosecuting attorney, and
WHEREAS, the prosecuting attorney's office has
been receiving such fees, and further
TMEREAS, this will not cost the city any addi-
tional money but provides for simply a different method of
disbursing fees that have been collected in criminal cases,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS as follows:
1. The city attorney of Batesville, Arkansas
shall receive as a part of his compensation the same fees
as are allowed prosecuting attorneys in this state in crim-
inal cases.
2. The proper municipal officials are directed
to take the necessary action to accomplish the purposes of
this ordinance.
3. This ordinance being necessary for the
orderly presentation of criminal cases and to provide fair
compensation for the office of city attorney, an emergency
is hereby declared and this ordinance shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage.
