HomeMy WebLinkAbout2011-08-02 • ORDINANCE NO.-6- al— )-o AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING CHANGES TO THE CITY OF BATESVILLE EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK POLICY FOR A DRUG AND ALCOHOL FREE WORKPLACE AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES WHEREAS, the City of Batesville Employee Handbook was first adopted by resolution on April 24, 2001, and it was thereafter amended on October 23, 2001, November 13, 2001 and June 26, 2007. WHEREAS, the City of Batesville Policy for a Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace was adopted by Ordinance No. 2001-12-2 as a part of the City of Batesville Employee Handbook. WHEREAS, the City's Safety Director has reviewed and recommended changes to the City's current Policy for a Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace; and • WHEREAS, changes to the City's Policy for a Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace submitted by the City's Safety Director are necessary to ensure the City's policies are consistent with state and federal laws; and WHEREAS, it is in the City's best interest to keep its policies current with the changing state and federal laws. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS, SECTION 1: Ordinance No. 2001-12-2, accepting the previous Employee Handbook and Policy for a Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace is hereby repealed. SECTION 2: This Ordinance shall replace and repeal any resolution previously passed or adopted with respect to the City of Batesville Employee Handbook or Policy for a Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace. SECTION 3: The City of Batesville Policy for a Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace which was presented to the City Council on July 19, 2011, by the City's Safety Director for review is hereby adopted and shall become a part of the • City of Batesville Employee Handbook. • PASSED AND APPROVED this 9h day of August, 2011.
